Round Gel Plate Magic ! Creative Ways to Display Your Prints.

Too many gel prints ? Here are some creative ways to display your prints. I’m using 2 different art journals, one for the tissue paper release prints, and another for fine prints printed on printmaking paper.

Do you enjoy gel printing? It’s a great way to use up recycled tissue paper. Even wrinkled paper that’s been folded up is fine to use as a release print, as the gel plate smooths the paper out. Have a marvellously creative day! Vicki 😘

The Making of a Paper Quilt

See how I created this art work using gel prints made on the 4” round gel plate using threads from my sewing basket!

I used a large sheet of Arches Watercolor paper to attach the prints to.

How I Clean and Store My Gel Plate

Got a filthy gel plate? Is your work surface a mess? Warm soapy water nearby is great for dunking your stencils and brayers into, but your gel plate will need special attention . See how I clean and store mine.

Gel Printing

Have you ever tried gel printing? Here is one of my latest prints. I used a stencil and some punchilena (the wastage left over from sequins ) bubble wrap, tape and acrylic paint to create this layered collaged print.

It took lots of time under the gel press to get to this stage of work,
but you can start with a simple stencil and one layer print and get some very cool results.
Here’s a tip:
don’t throw out those background papers, you can always come back and layer more on top.
It’s trial and error to see what works,
but you might surprise yourself and pull a print or two you really love.
Have a marvellously creative day,
Vicki x 🎨🖌🌿
