Faux Pewter Watercolor Christmas Card.

See in this video how I create a faux pewter effect using Watercolor paper and a wink of Stella clear Brush. Versafine Onyx Black Ink insures the ink won’t run with the addition of wet media, and the inexpensive Watercolor paper from the Dollar store creates a rounded shape when water is added. 

Unlike the regular technique using the Wink of Stella glitter pen, this technique allows for a heavy application with lots of water, and actually changes the colour of the tree from black to pewter.

2022 Christmas Cards: Glimmer Baubles With Gold!

These three cards have a beautiful sheen, thanks to the red glimmer paper, and gold foil diecuts.

I found the small ornament dies on Amazon, and paired them with the lovely detailed dies from Stampinup. I added adhesive paper to the small ornaments, so they wouldn’t cut all the way through, but give an embossed look, which makes them look metallic. The gold twine is by ValueCraft, which I found at the local dollar store.

Dreamy Line and Wash BOKEH technique with a Magic Eraser!

 This dreamy effect can be achieved easily with non staining Watercolor. I used a circles template to lift out the shapes, being sure to wipe down the back of the template with a paper towel so as not to spread water where it wasn’t wanted. I also altered the stamp by extending the branch using an ultra fine tip sharpie. I used Canson XL paper and Daniel Smith Watercolor.

The stamp is “Free As A Bird” by Stampin Up.

Balancing Bright Colours

 This card was a CASE from the catalogue, and I love how the colours have been used to bring balance to what could have been a very bossy colour scheme. A small touch of bright goes a long way. 

In this case there is plenty of white to balance those joyful pops of neon. The design is simple yet makes a statement. I love this composition.

Creating Embedded Elements within a Frame. Copic Colouring.

I wanted to share this new concept with you. It's an idea I came up with that I'm calling "Embedded Frames."
I used the Tree builder punch from Stampin' Up! to cut out some "grass" for my stamped puppy and kittens to sit on.

In order to achieve this effect,  I turned the tree builder pieces upside down, then passed them through the Big Shot with the stitched frames to embed the grass into the background.

 Next I sponged some sky into the background and placed my kittens and puppy onto the grass, popping them up on dimensionals.

 I stamped and punched the cloud using the tree builder punch, as you can see from these close up shots.

 I switched out the colours for moody browns and greys for the tangled kitty.

 These are the copic colours I used, and I added some sparkly details with the stardust gelly roll pen. The light greys helped these little darlings pop right off the page.

 I love the way the grass was completely embedded within the frame. I was really pleased with the result, and will use this idea again, as it turned out so well. A simple top-fold card base in whisper white is all that is needed to finish your card.

Embossed Wrappped Soaps: Gift Idea using Stampin' Up!

I have made my mum some gift wrapped, boxed soaps for Mothers Day. This is an inexpensive project, and i love how how it turned out.

Travellers Notebook. Nature Walk: Documenting Memories.Stampin' Up! Australian Demonstrator.

I love documenting memories in a Travellers Sized Notebook. I made traditional 12" x 12" albums for over 20 years, and much as I love my old albums, they are very difficult to store on a shelf, as most bookshelves are neither tall enough nor deep enough to house them.

I like to print on my home printer, and we all know the cost of ink refills! One of the great things about the smaller sized canvas of a Travellers Notebook is that you can put much smaller photos into your layout and still feel that the photo commands attention, rather than being swallowed up in a plethora of "similar" shots (yes, I know it's hard to choose just one shot when you have snapped dozens of photos of that birthday event, or that holiday ) in order to fill the double page spread of a 12" album.

However, what I am finding now is that I want to document much more regularly, rather than JUST birthdays and holidays, and documenting daily life is really important to me as a way of keeping a visual diary of my life as a newlywed.

Paul and I are crafting a life together, and remembering all the simple rituals and daily routines is turning out to be fun!

Life is a matter of moments.
