WaterColour Masterclass: In the Meadow: colouring without outlines.

This card was created using a new stamp set "In the Meadow," available on January 5th in the new Occasions Catalogue #140751 wood or #1405754 clear mount.
The technique I have used requires a very light touch with the aqua painter in order not to smudge the outline of the deer, which has been stamped in baked Brown Sugar on Stampin' Up! watercolour paper. I have used a quarter sheet for the focal image. The background was masked (I cut out a second image of the two deer on a post it note and stuck it over the stamped image while I sponged the background using soft sky, lost lagoon, and mossy meadow for the grass ).
The card was layered up on corrugated paper then mounted on a lost lagoon A5 card base.
The sentiment, from the stamp set, was stamped onto a scrap piece of watercolour paper that had been washed with mossy meadow.
Linen thread finishes the card.

Yes, I am Thankful.

                                                       Stampin' Up! Australia
Here is an unusual colour combo, and it just WORKS! I am breaking out of my safe mode and starting to play with new combinations of colour. I love a clean and simple card, without too much distraction for the eye. Plus, this card reminds me to count my blessings (of which I have many).
The sloping letters are balanced by the little flutterby heading across the page. Easy Peasy with the thinlits dies. Just remember to add a piece of greaseproof paper before you run it through the bigshot, and voila! it pops out of the die easily.

Free Mixed Media Art Journal Tutorials

Here is the first mixed media art journal page using all Stampin' Up! products. This form of art journal is much less messy than using gesso and paint, and comes together much faster. I also show you how to draw a whimsical portrait using Stampin' Up! markers and watercolor paper.

This next page uses traditional stamped embossed images, markers and washi tape. I hope you give these both a try.
